Mikky Ekko / Kids

Following the success of last year’s Pull Me Down and of course that not so discrete collaboration with a certain superstar (Rihanna), Mikky Ekko returns with a much lighter sound. Kids is a poppier approach from the upcoming singer - not to mention it’s produced by Benny Blanco.

Die Antwoord / Cookie Thumper

There is no pre-warning great enough before watching a new Die Antwoord video - nothing can prepare you for what you are about to set your tiny innocent eyes upon. New song/video Cookie Thumper, depicts lead singer Yolandi living at an orphanage whilst falling in love with a gangster - of course. There is some nice sexual chemistry towards the end too, look out for that.

Introducing / Avec Sans / Hold On

This afternoon we were vey kindly introduced to an essentially very exciting new electronic duo from our magazine crush - Notion. Avec Sans are comprised of Alice and Jack and are already drawing similarities to electronic-trio CHVRCHES or New Yorkers MSMR.

The band have just premiered their new video for the brilliant Hold On - which if we could give the song any written justice would be a well crafted pop melody complete with catchy song-writing.

We have been warned that these guys are going to start picking up heat so keep your eyes and ear peeled.

Introducing / Elli Ingram

It takes some serious courage to admit your inner ambitions, no matter how unrealistic they seem at the time of mid-day analyzation or those horrific moments of late evening insomnia. One thing that Brighton singer, Elli Ingram, decided to do was to chase ‘that’ dream (more…)

After posting some impressive YouTube videos of some well known songs and clocking up the views count, Ellie swiped herself a manager. News broke last week that the young singer has now just signed to Island Records (Florence and The Machine, Jessie J) which is a very exciting prospect indeed.

We’d best describe her musical direction as throwback 90’s with lots of diverse styles thrown in for good measure - for example on new song Mad Love, there is a nice touch of smooth jazz - a perfect summery melody that runs throughout. It’s the first single to be taken from the upcoming Sober EP out later this month and a fitting introduction to a singer who is surely going to be grabbing some serious attention in 2013 - this is just the start for Elli Ingram and we can’t wait to join her:

M.I.A / Bring The Noize

You never guess who has finally returned? M.I.A is back and she’s louder than ever, new track Bring The Noize is the first to be taken from the forthcoming album - Matangi

After various disputes with Interscope over the sound and direction of album number four it seems M.I.A may have finally been given the go-ahead to get things ‘out there’. The lady herself spoke about this being her last stab at releasing her music through a major label.
